Speed is king when it comes to external hard drives.

The Verbatim RAID hard disk runs very quietly and is protected from overheating by the built-in fans. "This setting is particularly recommended for small companies and private individuals who want to store their accounts or other financial affairs reliably and securely," says Kai Miroschnik. The stored data is mirrored so that even if one drive fails or develops a fault, the data is still available on the second drive. In this mode, the hard disk is divided into two drives with 1TB of storage space each. If the security of its data is particularly important, the drive can be configured to RAID 1. The eSATA connection ensures data transfer rates of 3GB/s, six times the speed of a USB port which transfers at 480Mbit/s. This setting offers particular advantages for multimedia and graphics applications such as streaming, high-end gaming or use as a web server. In RAID 0, the user has access to the full 2TB of storage space through a process known as striping. "With our new RAID HDD we are offering all this, as well as giving users the option of customised configuration," says Kai Miroschnik, Business Development Manager HDD Verbatim EUMEA.Ĭustomised configuration: RAID 0 or RAID 1 The market for external hard disks is characterised by three main trends: ever greater storage capacities, faster transfer rates and higher data security.

The Verbatim RAID 2TB eSATA & USB 2.0 Combo is now available in retail outlets. The 3.5-inch HDD offers the maximum storage and the fastest data transfer rates in RAID level 0 and continuous data storage based on mirroring in RAID level 1. Verbatim is expanding its range with an external RAID hard disk offering 2 terabytes of storage. This two-disk solution offers both eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces and can be configured in RAID 1 (mirrored) mode for extra protection or RAID 0 to access its full 2TB of storage space. Verbatim Europe recently announced its new external RAID hard drive.
